Everyone loves meat because it’s so delicious, not because of where it comes from. Luckily, we live in a time in history when it’s possible to skip the animal and produce everyone’s favorite food from something way better: you guessed it…plants!

This breakthrough couldn’t have come at a better time

You probably already know about the effects animal agriculture has had on the environment for decades. Back in 2011, those effects were the urgent call to action that led us to start Impossible Foods.

Answering the planet’s most pressing crisis

We gave ourselves an impossible mission (pun intended): to make tasty products packed with nutrients that are better for the planet and for animals. The rest is history. Kidding, check out our timeline.

Trailblazing the delicious, more sustainable food scene since 2011

Today, our mission to make meaty meat from plants is an incredibly successful reality. Did we mention that 4 out of 5 people who try Impossible Burgers like them?¹ Scroll to find out how we got here.

2011

Instead of panicking, our founder set out on the mission to make delicious, mouthwateringly juicy meat a better way for the planet: from plants. And that is exactly what happened.

In 2011, Pat Brown realized something: people love eating meat, but how it’s made is a big problem.

The Burger That Launched a Movement

2016

We launched the Impossible Burger at Momofuku in NYC. Pretty soon after, we gained recognition and partnered with influential chefs and national restaurants eager to join the mission.

We launched our first product: The Impossible Burger (maybe you’ve heard of it).

Then we hatched Impossible Chicken Made From Plants

2021

And in 2021, it worked. A whopping 81% of consumers say Impossible Nuggets taste as good or better than animal-based chicken nuggets.¹

We didn’t just set out to make a chicken substitute, we made it better.

But we were hungry for more change

2023

In 2023, our dream of having a hot dog without all the bad bits became reality. We launched in NYC in a hot dog cart, and it’s only picked up steam since.

We launched our most ambitious product yet: the Impossible Hot Dog

OurMissionIn Action

We're always looking for new ways to make nutrient-packed, savory products made from plants that are better for the planet.

We strive to make delicious food from plants that’s nutrient-packed, better for the planet, and way better for animals.

Our delicious products are nutrient-packed and have 0 mg cholesterol. Did you know our beef 17g protein per 100g serving? Aren't plants amazing?
