Beef and broccoli is one of the classic dishes you can get from a Chinese American Restaurant, and for good reason. It's savory, sweet, meaty, and delicious! Make Impossible™ Beef & Broccoli recipe with Impossible™ Beef Meat From Plants, which is not only meaty and delicious, but also better for the planet!
This dish calls for Chinese broccoli, which is also known as gai-lan, kai-lan, or Chinese kale, has larger, flatter leaves, thick stems, and smaller florets than the broccoli you typically find. Chinese broccoli also has a bit of a stronger, more bitter taste that is a perfect complement to the flavors in this recipe and the juiciness of Impossible Beef. Enjoy this dish over a warm bed of rice.

  • 1 tbsp Ginger, Minced
  • 3 tbsp Rice Wine Vinegar, Seasoned
  • 3 oz Tamari or Soy Sauce
  • 1 cup Vegetable Stock
  • 3 tbsp Brown Sugar, Packed Tight
  • 1 Bunch Chinese Broccoli (Can Sub Regular Broccoli), Chopped Into Fork Size Pieces
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 tbsp Sambal
  • 1/2 Lime, Fresh Squeezed
  • 1 tbsp Togarashi Spice Mix For Garnish (Or Toasted Sesame Seeds)
  • Steamed Rice or Noodles For Serving
  • 1 tbsp Neutral Cooking Oil

How to prepare

Step 1: Cook the Impossible Beef

Add the cooking oil to a large sauté pan over medium-high heat, and crumble the Impossible Beef into the pan into several larger pieces (about 10-12). Cook until well seared and golden brown. Then flip and stir the crumbles to continue searing and cooking evenly on all sides until cooked through. Remove from pan, and set aside.

Step 2: Cook the Vegetables

Add garlic, ginger, and onions to the same pan and cook until soft and translucent.

Step 3: Add Some Flavor

Add rice wine vinegar, tamari, vegetable stock, and brown sugar to the pan, and stir to combine and dissolve brown sugar. Simmer for 3-5 minutes.

Step 4: Cook the Broccoli

Add Chinese broccoli and cook for an additional minute. Add the Impossible Beef back to the pan and stir to combine.

Step 5: Almost There

Add sesame oil, sambal, and lime juice, stirring to incorporate these flavors into the dish, then remove from heat.

Step 6: Serve, Share, and Enjoy

Serve over rice or noodles, and garnish with togarashi spice mix or toasted sesame seeds.
